[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] a dark world aches for a splash of the sun So this was it, right? The chance she'd been wanting for so long had fallen straight into her hands for the very reason that had prevented her doing so sooner. When Nathaniel Styx had visited her at the Salem Witches' Institute, she had initially been apprehensive about how he had managed to find her when she had been so thorough in leaving no trail behind her. Whether he knew of Amber, she wasn't sure. He hadn't mentioned her and neither had she but if he'd managed to trace her through each of the schools she'd taught at, despite changing her name with each one and often her hair colour or some other feature of her appearance, there was no telling how much he knew about her. A great deal, she feared, but he also knew that she was a vampire and to cross her would be a grave mistake.
Despite the various elements to the situation that should have told her hide in the Himalayas and stop teaching for fifty years, Evelyn had decided to accept the young man's invitation into the Nex Domino. She had not done so immediately so as to prevent him believing her to be so available, instead telling him that she would consider his proposition and that she would see him in Scotland if she accepted. Of course, she started packing the things in her classroom as soon as he left and handed her lesson plans for the rest of the year to the Headmistress. Eve had already explained to her, as she had done for each of her employers, that personal circumstances could require her to leave quite suddenly but she would never leave them completely in the lurch with her departure. She taught her final lesson of the day before going to her office to pack what she had there and then returning to the house she lived in over the summer holidays. Once all of her belongings had been arranged into a suitcase fitted with an undetectable extension charm and a couple of other enchantments to ensure it would be light enough to take on board and wouldn't set off any alarms, Evelyn boarded the first plane to Edinburgh the next morning and apparated to Hogsmeade to meet Nate's father, Jonathan, as she had agreed to do so in the event that she decided to help them.
As she walked into the discussed café with her suitcase now transfigured into a purse, Evelyn glanced around the tables for a vaguely familiar face. Of course, nobody that she had known before was still alive and the building had been a bakery the last time she'd been inside it. After picking out a man that had enough of a resemblance to Nathaniel and appeared old enough to be his father, she walked over and sat opposite. "Mr Styx, I presume?" she asked before raising her hand to click her fingers and then bringing it back to rest on her lap with her other. As a waitress walked over to the table and turned to her, Eve looked up and asked for "A pumpkin spice latté, a blueberry muffin and whatever this gentleman would like." With that, she returned her attention to the man in front of her. "I'm not quite sure how you became aware of me or knew where to find me but you did so at the right time. There are personal things for me to attend to that have only recently become practical to do without undesired complications and so aiding you in your cause hit two birds with one stone. I'm Evelyn, by the way, but you already know that," she said to him with a wry smile. words: 618 - tags: jonathan styx - outfit: link |

He had business to attend to so he'd had to send others whom he trust to greet them, in this case he had sent his own son. Jon had not been let down, his son had reported back to him and now he sat in Hogsmeade waiting for the arrival of his newest counterpart. Jon had already drank a coffee and had the mug taken away, he had gotten there early to get a feel of the place, he knew everything that was going on around him, he knew the waitress was hungover and she was having boyfriend troubles, he knew that there was an aspiring writer two tables behind him and so on. He didn't need to know these things but his mind just absorbs it and stores it, he'd also established several escape routes if one was needed.
His mind had always been weird, he had very nearly been a hatstall. Ravenclaw just wasn't for him though. Then the door opened and in walked who he was waiting for, Evelyn Matthews, he recognised her from the pictures he'd seen. "you presume correctly" he told her after she had approached him.
Jon watched Evelyn order then turned to the waitress herself. "Oooh, i will have a caramel coffee and i think i'll join my friend here and have a blueberry muffin too, thanks.. Stacy" he told the waitress with a smile, reading her name badge. He then returned his attention to Evelyn. A smirk formed on his face as she told him she wasn't sure how he became aware of her or how to find her. "I have a way of finding what i need when i need it and when it needs me" he told her with a smile. "Evelyn, i'm Jonathan, as im sure you know, no Mr.Styx please, we're all friends here no need for formalities" he was here to help her as much as she was to help him.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] a dark world aches for a splash of the sun The vampire had no idea that the man sitting opposite her was planning to unleash a Dementor on the current Headmistress of Hogwarts in a little over a month's time in order to place himself at the top of the school and give himself what was one of the easier accessed of the influential positions in wizarding Britain. As far as she was aware, he was expanding a force that would ensure things were done the right way and one of those ways would allow Evelyn to grow some roots and try to build a solid life for herself once again. She was tired of running, of pretending to be someone else, or not being able to grow attached to a place or the people in it. She missed being able to walk down a corridor without feeling as though she had to absorb every tiny detail because it would be another century before it was safe for her to return.
"I usually do," Evelyn replied as he confirmed her assumption. "You can't live for nearly two centuries without perfecting your skills, whether intentionally or otherwise," she added, opening her purse and pulling out another from inside it as Jonathan placed his order with the waitress. "Well aren't you the charmer," she said with a smile, fishing out a few galleons with which to pay the waitress upon the delivery of their coffees and muffins. "I know it's customary for a gentleman to pay but don't feel it's necessary," Eve told him, paying no attention to whether or not he had suggested that he would or wouldn't. "I enjoy spending money and I've got plenty at my disposal, more than even the Malfoys I suspect. Are they still around or did Hyperion fail to produce a son?" Though she had not exactly been friends with the man, she had been on rather good terms with his wife and found it almost amusing that his quest for an heir had been delayed by no less than three daughters by the time she'd had to leave England. She would have to take a look into what became of them too, having been the godmother of the eldest, but Amber would obviously take priority.
"I assume your son told you that the position of History of Magic professor would need to be made available to me in order for me to stay?" Evelyn asked. For the sake of discovering what happened to her daughter, she could possibly remain unemployed for the time being or else teach another subject. Though history was certainly her area of expertise, she had been teaching it for a rather long time after all, she was sure she could apply her teaching skills to another area if this was required of her, with the exceptions of Herbology, which she had never enjoyed even as she grew better at it, and Care of Magical Creatures, as animals didn't particularly like her and she shared the sentiment. As their order was brought over, she took the mug and settled it on the table in front of her, handing the gold coins to Stacy and telling her to keep the change before wrapping her hands around the warm cup. "Forgive me, formalities are simply part of my nature. I'm quite traditional in that respect," Eve replied, including a subtle wink to secure her reference to her vampirism.

"Well, i look forward to seeing some more of your perfected skills in the future" he told her with a small smile, he was curious as to what was in store for them. He was sure whatever it was would be glorious.
Jon laughed as she called him a charmer, charm was indeed one of the tools he would use frequently to get his own way. "Play your cards right and i'll show you just how charming i can be" he joked, even though he was the kind of guy to mix business and pleasure (actually he'd mix pleasure with just about everything) and evelyn was incredibly beautiful he knew when to seduce somebody and when not to. "Ok, but next time, i'm buying" he told her with a smile, Jon disagreed with the male buying all the time rule anyway. It didn't quite fit with his ideas on people being equal.
"The Malfoys are very much still around" he informed her, he couldn't even think of a Hyperion Malfoy, but he wasn't really well informed on the Malfoy family tree. Jon laughed lightly as she mentioned her future job. "Dont worry, it'll be your job in no time and if i have my way, it'll be yours for as long as you like" he told her, he already had people working on getting her the job, it was more a matter of how soon than anything else now.
Jonathan took his drink and muffin, winked at Stacy then watched her walk away before turning his attention once again back to Evelyn. He took a sip of his coffee then placed it on the table saying "Traditions hold on too tightly to the past for me, i think it's time for some change" he then placed some blueberry muffin into his mouth, swallowed it down and added "besides i imagine there's other things in your nature thats much more fun" and, as she had done, he winked to secure his reference to her vampirism.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] a dark world aches for a splash of the sun "Oh don't you worry, I intend to employ them all to ensure that I'm still here past 2030," Evelyn replied. She had not come back to Hogsmeade simply to leave again when the decade was out. Her old home had been far too beautiful for anyone to knock it down and whether it was for sale or not, she would be having it back. It would naturally require some intimidation and, if that failed to persuade the current residents to leave, she was aware of plenty of spells that could send them packing to Land's End without so much as a backwards glance. Besides, it was entertaining every now and then to scare people with her talents in order to get what she wanted.
"Next time, hmm? I like the confidence," she said with a light laugh. Of course, the current time was merely a business arrangement and there would certainly need to be a next time in order for any plans they made to follow through smoothly. It was no use agreeing to work together towards a common goal if they weren't going to confer along the way. Having been personally sought out for her talents, Eve expected that she would be kept well informed of what was happening and would be rather displeased if she wasn't. Social change was no easy task and she couldn't prove to be confident if she didn't know exactly what she was being confident in.
"But, if you insist, I'll restrain myself on the next occasion that a payment is necessary." Though it always worked in her favour, Eve had never been all that big on men having to act like a gentleman for a woman, especially in her circumstances. Of course it was nice have everything done for you but she doubted it was as relaxing for the male. She was capable of opening doors for herself, paying for herself, removing her coat herself, and all of the other things that were well within her capabilities and so she would insist upon doing them herself.
Evelyn smiled as she was told that the Malfoy line had survived. It was nice to know that at least some of what she had known before, although diluted with time to leave only the shadows, was still here in some shape or form. There was just enough for her former bond to remain in tact but not so much that she forgot this was a new beginning. If anyone asked about the Evelyn Matthews that had lived and worked here before, she would claim coincidence with her ancestor. She had been home schooled by parents that had since retired to Malaysia while she had gone to Salem to explore its history first hand before turning to teaching. Orchestrating elaborate lies about her past was one of those skills that she'd perfected.
"Well then let's hope we have our way," the vampire replied with a smile. She knew that the overall aim was not simply to allow her to stay in her position at Hogwarts, when she had it in her hands once again, but the end results would make this possible and so she would support it. As he spoke of a time for change, Evelyn gave a sharp nod and said, "I'll drink to that," before lifting the mug and taking a tentative sip of the latté to ensure it wasn't too hot. Satisfied that it wouldn't scorch her tongue, she took a larger sip before placing the mug back on the table and proceeding to eat through the muffin. "Ripping throats out really isn't as fun as you'd expect. The first time it's entertaining but it grows dull after a while."

Jon had a vision that he couldnt put into words exactly, he couldn't make it appeal to everyone but he knew it was better off his way, so this was how he was making it happen, step by step, dirtily and sneakily but he was making it happen none the less.
"Well, it's a sure thing" he told her with a smirk, he was certain to see her again, many times in the future, he was sure of it, he had to see her again, they had a lot to discuss. "I do insist, but not because it's apparently a man's duty, i just like treating people who are in my good books.. and the fact you're incredibly beautiful and powerful is probably an added factor" he told her, joking slightly with the last part, she was beautiful and powerful but that had nothing to do with it, he'd only said that because that was simply how he was, if there was a woman anywhere near him he'd have probably flirted with her slightly already.
"Evelyn, we will" he replied and then raised his own mug to his lips as she did, swallowing down some of the warm coffee and then placing it back down on the table. "Oh well, there is that, i imagine that does get boring after a while.. but there's the speed and strength and agility" he pointed out imagining what he'd do with such physical abilities, it would probably be things such as beating the crap out of people who annoyed him and just sleeping with people. He had thought of asking her to turn him but had completely decided against it, he didnt need to be a vampire, it would be more of a hindrance to him right now, maybe when he was in his old age and ready for retirement, just before his body starts falling apart he would, but for now he was fine being a human, he enjoyed it. "You need any help with anything at all, contact me, i don't care if you burst into my room at one in the morning, as long as you have a valid reason i'll help you as soon as possible, i have your back, you've got mine" he told her with a small grin, he'd said this to most people under his command, they didn't really realise how much they were under his command though, he considered himself a great leader and he was going to prove it to the world and to himself. "Although if you burst into my room at one in the morning you might want to look away, it's not a pretty sight"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] a dark world aches for a splash of the sun "I certainly hope so. I'd intended to go to Burkina Faso next but as I understand it, there's a significant runespoor population there and I'm far from an animal lover," Evelyn replied. In the rare year that she would take a break from teaching, the vampire always investigated schools she would apply at in the future so as to ensure that she knew where she was headed next if anything went disastrously wrong in her current location. When she had initially started packing, she hadn't completely decided whether she would be flying to Scotland or Burkina Faso the next morning. Though one might have expected her not to bother with the west African school if she was so concerned about the three headed snakes, it was becoming increasingly difficult for her to find a school that she had not already been employed at and she intended to delay her return to Brazil until such a time that it was impossible to find an alternative.
"You sound almost envious," Eve told him though knowing that if he was as intelligent as he came across to be then he would recognise it wasn't a life to wish for. Then again, would she not have held it in the same regard? While it might not have been anything to be proud of, Evelyn was quite certain that her seventeen year old self, though Jon was clearly much older, would have jumped at the chance for eternal youth, beauty and practically invincibility. There were so many opportunities that it could open up and in her teenage years the extra abilities would have proved very welcome. But her barely-of-age self didn't understand all the other intricacies of being a vampire - the constant moving, the loss of loved ones, the restrictions of sunlight that had only been lifted for Evelyn due to her time in the Amazon. Had she chosen to go to Beauxbatons first like she had almost done, she might never have met the witch and her entire life would be different. She wouldn't have been able to teach in Greece or Egypt, which she had loved very much, and if she'd still gone to Mexico then she'd probably have been killed as a demon after all. It had only been her ability to stand in the sunlight that had spared her from the man who was rightly convinced that he'd seen her drinking from his wife's neck but she had fled from the country nonetheless.
"I'm sure I'll be fine as soon as I've negotiated an agreement with whoever is living in my old house. Just let me know when my job is available so I can go and reclaim it." It was her understanding that when she had failed to return from her maternity leave in 1865, a rather elderly man by the name of Cuthbert Binns had filled the spot and held the post even after his death. Whether or not he had since been removed from the castle wasn't something she knew but he or whoever had taken the job after him would be gone by June. For the first time, she would refer to her time at Salem in her application as she had claimed to be twenty-two when she started there three years ago which would now leave her at twenty-five - her biological age. It all fitted perfectly and the prior experience would aid her in securing the position. "I'll bear that in mind. Now, will that be all or was there anything else you wished to discuss?" words: 591 - tags: jonathan styx - outfit: link |

He'd always been terrible at taking care of things, so when he was left with a child he'd been utterly hopeless and the first few years had been some of the most hectic years of his life, that was one of the factors in his decision to not keep David, he couldnt have coped going through all that again.
Jon was a little bit envious, he wished he could look young forever and have amazing strength and agility, he already felt like somewhat of a monster sometimes and had no problem with disposing of people so it felt like something he could adapt to easily, but he realised that would mean watching everything he held clear to him crumble to dust, even if he did manage to create a world where vampires were just as accepted as anyone else, he felt like maybe being a vampire wasn't for him, at least not yet anyway, he didnt need another huge thing to hide. "Almost" he said simply, he didnt really have much else to add without revealing too much of him that he didnt really want to reveal.
"I think i've covered everything for now, i'll get in touch" he said with a nod, finishing off his drink and eating the last bits of his muffin. Jon smiled to himself This is going to be the start of a beautiful relationship he thought then stood up. "I best head off then, i'm a busy man, i've got things to do, idiots to put in their place, you know how it is" He told her, Jon bowed his head to her then turned to walk away, stopping just to turn to her and say "Oh and lay low for a little bit" and that was that, he walked out the door winking to Stacy as he went.
