Despite her loud & occasionally aggressive qualities, she is an introvert bordering on the antisocial spectrum. She has major trust issues, & this is never help to her. She is Ravenclaw's Quidditch Captain & best Beater, which seems to contradict her in every way. However, she loves Quidditch & the Beater position because it is a way for her to let out all her pent-up emotions that come with being unable to put trust in anybody. She was made Captain because of her extensive ability to strategize & observe, & she accepted the promotion as another challenge to keep her avid mind occupied. Also, because academics do not give her the stimulation that her brain needs, Basilia spends most of her spare time learning & inventing new spells & potions. At the age of fourteen she spent her year attempting to cast a corporeal Patronus; & finally succeeded in her fifth year (although is only able to hold it for a brief second). She is currently experimenting with the magic required to become an Animagus. Basil's a total history buff, &, being a Muggleborn, did not have the privilege to grow up with magical knowledge. She is incredibly fond of the Founders, & can often be found hounding them for information about ancient magicks and what life was really like back in the days when Hogwarts was founded. Basil's actual first name is Basilia, meaning "royal" or "regal". However, she has never been fond of her name, & will only let somebody that she deeply respects (the Founders, Professors, her father, & her brother) call her Basilia, though she won't be happy about it. She prefers to go by "Basil", and will reinforce this if she needs to. Her father often refers to her as "Sily" (pronounced 'silly'), but this is only because he is her father. She has difficulty relating to people her own age because of her intelligence level & that she uses mostly her head. She gets teased a lot, & it really only started getting to her last year, when she developed a crush on a seventh year that ended up leaving her in the dust with all these things called emotions. Since then, she has finally come to realize what makes her tick, what she likes & what she doesn't. She has become a whole new person, it's like she underwent a giant transformation. An effect of this is her hair. Her hair is naturally a medium ginger-brown, but, in an experimental potion, formulated a deep crimson dye that can only wash out with it's counter-potion. Basil is extremely proud of this, & she has sold this dye (in a variety of colours) to a few people who were interested. Basil definitely doesn't have the "making friends" thing down. However, since she started really being in touch with her emotions & last year, she has become significantly more open & willing to make friends. This being said, Basil is still way more content on her own because she is in control, & she won't abandon herself. She would be drawn to somebody who shares come of the same passions that she does, or can carry on an intelligent conversation with her. She often finds friendships with adults & the ghosts, because she has respect for them & can learn from them. I would really like for Basil to step outside her box & make a few unlikely friends. Enemies are a whole 'nother thing. Basil doesn't make very many enemies by choice; it just seems to happen. She dislikes people who are actually smart but dumb themselves down to be popular or seem "cute" most of all. She is, in a way, jealous of these people. She really just wants to be accepted, but her mental strengths get in her way. She doesn't know how to make people like her, & so they end up an enemy because she gets too frustrated with trying to be a good person. It's difficult for her, you have to understand this. Especially since she really only started friendships last year, when everybody had already established relationships with practically everybody. Ah, yes, lovers. This is a tricky deal for Basil. She doesn't know what love is, she doesn't know how to make a guy like her or how to like another guy. Also, her trust is shaky (less-so when it comes to guys) so it would take a long time for her to be comfortable giving her all to somebody. She wants to be loved so badly, but doesn't know where to start. Growing up in a family of musicians, he can't help but be a virtuoso. However, his first love is visual art. Levi always has a sketchbook with him, & he doesn't always pay attention in class due to getting absorbed in his drawings. He can always see an obscure side to things, & often has very original ways of solving problems. He is an extremely right-brained thinker; this can be a problem during classes, as most of them are rather by-the-book. However, his creativity helps him in some magical fields, such as dueling. Levi took up dueling in his second year, & has become quite involved in the Dueling Club. Perfectionism is definitely a significant part of Levi. He likes things to be [his definition of] perfect, & can freak out a little bit when they're not. He's fussy only about certain things, such as his artwork, music, & schoolwork. His essay has to look good for him to let himself hand it in. If it's not, then he hums and hahs over it until he finds that piece that makes it click with him. He's highly illogical except when it comes to his work. Like a good Hufflepuff, Levi is extraordinarily loyal. He will do literally anything for his friends & family & to keep them safe. He's very protective of them, & will leap to their rescue if they need him. When first years come into the school, Levi is pretty much the first person older than they to befriend them. He's unbelievably nice to everybody, & will go out of his way to make somebody feel better or help them out. This often makes him late for class or miss it altogether. He falls behind because of this, but is still eventually able to catch up. When Levi gets angry, he takes the passive-aggressive approach. He never raises his voice, but responds with a cool fierceness that he can hold for ages. He will never take offense during anything other than a duel; instead he prefers to defend what is been attacked. He is a debater, rather than a warrior. When he was eight years old, Levi was diagnosed with ADHD-C (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - Combined Hyperactive-impulsive & Inattentive ). He's rarely able to sit still, & will often excuse himself from class to go take a walk. He's a kinaesthetic learner, & often uses his sketchbook as something to do to keep himself from fidgeting & to keep his mind on track. He has had to go up to teachers & ask for extra help, simply because he cannot absorb information through reading or hearing it. He often has to ask permission to modify the assignments so that they're more hands-on. Levi is, so far, the only one of his best friends that is not attracted to boys. Sorry, gents. Levi is also asexual. He, unlike so many of the boys his age, is not interested in sex whatsoever, & is not sexually attracted to anybody. It's just who he is. He is, however, heteromantic, which means that he's all for the emotional part of a relationship, as long as nothing too serious happens. He would like to find somebody, because it gets lonely when you're the only dude in the group who doesn't like other dudes, & he's heard all about this epic love thing but he's never really been a part of it. If a girl were to flirt with him he would probably flirt back in his aloof Levi way, I mean, he's a keeper for sure, & he might even try to make himself like her back if he didn't. As for friends, Levi's pretty much up for being friends with everybody, unless they're cruel to his best friends (Max, Dash, Brax, & Loki). He's always looking to make new friends, & is generally nice to everybody so even if Levi & somebody aren't friends he'd like them to be on good terms. When it comes to enemies, this is not a concept that Levi is incredibly familiar with. He tries not to make enemies, & if he does then he'll still be just as polite as he would be to anyone else. Although, it's not a taught subject in school. Lily wants more than anything to be an actor, & she's been quite unimpressed that there really isn't much advertised opportunity for a budding young actor in the wizarding world. She loves classical theatre, but also has the vocal & dancing skills to do musicals. Lily is a pacifist. She doesn't believe in violence, & thinks that it will never solve anything. She respects that her parents & family members are war heroes, but doesn't want anything to do with it & certainly doesn't like that they had to go through all of that. If someone makes fun of her she pretty much just sits there & takes it. She's as tough as her mother but not as fiery. Lily is also painfully aware of the world around her, & the troubles that come up. She is empathetic & connects with others emotionally, which allows her to be close to a large group of people. She is also a shameless dreamer. She spends lots of her time lost in the clouds, like the sake of her first middle name. She's a little weird to some of her peers, & this is only confirmed by the way she dresses. Lily's attire is very dramatic & she changes styles pretty much daily. One week she'll be all about the World War II era fashion, then maybe next week it'll be black leather skinny pants & thick, smudgy eyeliner. She likes change in what she wears, but her hair is almost always the same. Lily has a lot of it, & it's very red & somewhat wavy, like her namesake's. It's rarely tied back or put up; instead she lets it fly around her & live its own hairy life. The top part is often braided back or pulled off of her face. There are some things that she just doesn't change. Like her father before her, Lily has a horrible case of curiosity & a need to have her questions answered. Where there was danger or chaos, you could be ninety percent sure that Esryn was stuck somewhere in the middle of it. A word anybody would use to describe the old Esryn would be "reckless". Es was Hogwarts-famous for doing stupid things for stupid reason. For example: "Why did you attempt to jump from the second floor moving staircase to the first floor platform, Mr Zabini?" There was at least four metres of distance between them, Esryn had missed the fall & ended up breaking his arm. Here a shrug & a signature nonchalant Esryn lip curl were inserted. "Didn't wanna wait for it to stop moving." Then he'd look away and avoid deeper/more conversation. Reformed Esryn still has the bad-boy attitude & arrogance towards his peers, but he is viewed by adults as a miracle case. He was appointed Head Boy (it was decided that having the responsibility would be good for him & keep him out of trouble) & has been doing a fair job. He's mostly a gentleman when it comes to women. Ara is far more delicate than anybody knows. She suffers from an unfortunate genetic & non-genetic cocktail of disorders: schizophrenia, social anxiety disorder, dissociative amnesia (repressed memory), & post-traumatic stress disorder. She is also cursed with intense panphobia, claustrophobia, hypnophobia, & night terrors. Her social anxiety forces her to become the shyest of the shy, the one who will not approach anybody & who prefers to remain invisible. She used to be a very sweet girl, & she still is, somewhere deep inside. But now she is so wrought with a burning fear that she blocks herself off from people so that she will never get hurt again, & so that she can never hurt others. It is not in her nature to socialize, but this year is even more significantly mute than before. When Ara came to Hogwarts at eleven years old, she was shy & basically below invisible, but she was still fairly steady in her personality. She wasn't deranged, although when she was a child she had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. She didn't go out of her way to make friends (due to what would later be identified as social anxiety disorder) but was always friendly and wouldn't immediately bolt away from any sort of human contact. Nobody questioned Ara Mackenzy about anything, really or made an effort to be close to her, she was just that girl who did all her work quietly & only partnered up with others when she couldn't get out of it. Nobody had ever met anyone in her family. She told a story about a brother, once, & slyly left him unnamed. Her parents never picked her up or dropped her off at platform nine and three quarters; the young girl simply quietly got off the train & exited the station without so much of a trace of existence. When she returned for her fifth year, however, Ara was different. Many of her housemates had wondered if she was even back at school at all, since they never saw her. Ara Mackenzy seemed to be somebody that everybody had dreamed up; a mere figment of some student's wild and contagious imagination. It was later rumoured that Ara was in the castle as a ghost, that she had committed suicide because she had no friends & that she was haunting them forever. Ara often wished she was a ghost. Her entire family was dead under mysterious circumstances, & now Ara was traumatized. Something big had happened, something bad, something so scary that it had left sweet little Ara completely shaken up. She was given her own room hidden away from the other students, due to her night terrors & gala of mental disorders. It wasn't that she was a threat to the other students, per se, it was that it was in her best interest if she had a place to go away from everybody else. There are a few hallucinations that recur and that she often talks to, including a tall, shadowy man in a long black cloak. When students spy her she is often wandering the halls during one of her "episodes", seeming so ethereal and otherworldly that the ghost rumour was started. She is able to keep on top of schoolwork, and all her professors and the Headmaster are aware of her condition and circumstance, but Ara Mackenzy remains Hogwarts' mystery. She has isolated herself from her own memories, even. She refuses to let herself remember what happened the summer after her fourth year. -------------------------------------------------------

Okay well i think they'll get along well they seem a lot alike, he's socially awkward and smart for his age, he's also on the hufflepuff quidditch team and he's an animagus. I could see them being really close and if she's anywhere near as awkward with feelings as him (as in he doesnt really know much about feelings or anything like that) they could probably go through discovering feelings and stuff together.

there's so much opportunity to cause arguments between these two, due to cassie not being the nicest girl in her "happy" moods and basil occupying one of the three rival quidditch captain positions. i'm sensing that, from her point of view, she won't like basil much at all, she has so many different reasons to dislike the other student.

although not as volatile by nature as my previous character, evie's not overly-friendly unless she feels a need or want to be and since basil's not too willing to return a friendly expression, i'm guessing they'd hardly interact. different houses and their individual desire to avoid most people, although perhaps for different reasons, means that they probably wouldn't see each other enough to form an opinion.

naturally, basil will be somewhat familiar with one of of the four founders of hogwarts, although i obviously do not know what her opinion of the hufflepuff founder will be. as she's known for being, helga's a clever and fair witch who would be only too willing to give a student advice. she'd know of basil, due to the founders remembering each student sorted at their school of magic and she'd respect her for being a student of hogwarts and as a person, but, again, i'm leaving the other side of the equation up to you.

jaslene is much more civil to other students than her younger sister, particularly those sorted into ravenclaw as she was given the choice to be sorted into ravenclaw or slytherin. considering they're both reasonably intelligent, they share one similarity, but jaslene's very close friendship with christopher weasley may affect their interactions? if basil's also considering helping josh out, jaslene may suffer some minor annoyance while her suspcions about that arrangement grow.

Salazar would keep an eye on her, both because she's got the title as 'head of Slytherin' which means he's gonna see if she's worthy. Salazar is also a flirt (November is only getting my flirty characters it seems ) so theres that too. I think Salazar could like her though, she seems like somebody he could like.

i can easily imagine that jas, being as emotional and prone to changing her mind as she has always been, would be a particularly difficult girl to get along with in terms of a relationship. their personalities could definitely be causing these ridiculous arguments and then to the decline of that short-term "relationship." as for exaggerating his problems, jaslene is entirely likely to do this (mostly to make herself believe that she no longer has any superficial interest, but also make him look like the bad person).

i imagine most of her frustration would be because they bring out the worst of each other and made a relationship almost unbearable, but she hates the fact that she's so obviously still physically attracted to him. i imagine it would be primarily lust that drew her to him in the first place, the other side of the attraction would be up to you. so, she hates him (although not truly) for making her life hellish for that short-term relationship but also for him continuing to mess with her head in terms of her feelings. i could see her being tempted, given her engagement and further frustration, perhaps seeking that early passion she found in him in her desperation to avoid her impending marriage? later on, i think she'd still dislike his half of their destructive relationship, but eventually come to realise hating him is a waste of her energy. let me know what you think (:
