As usual, greeting students at the door of the Potions lesson was Professor Snape.
Professor Snape. She'd been teaching at Hogwarts for three months now and she still got a kick out of hearing it. Professor Snape, just like her father. It kept a smile in her mind throughout every lesson, though as yet she had not shown that smile to a single student. She was strict, fair and expected the very best out of her students. More so the Slytherins. They, after all, were the best the school had to offer.
On each desk sat a small cauldron of variously coloured liquids - one cauldron for each pair of students. Written on the blackboard were only the instructions: "Do NOT taste any of the potions." Lily hoped it went without saying, but you could never be too careful.
When the students were all inside, Lily strode to the front of the classroom. She held up a hand as the indication she demanded they stop talking, and a cold glare met anyone not quick enough to fall silent.
"You are working in your usual pairs today. You have been given a sample of magical poisons. It is your task to determine exactly what potion you have been assigned. Judge its colour, consistency, smell, temperature... By the end of the lesson you should have written out, in full, the name of the potion you have in front of you, its ingredients and method of creation."
She stepped back, and her mouth quirked - not enough to form a smile but just enough to hint at one. "And please, believe me when I tell you tasting the potion is not a good method of determining its contents."

He sat there pretty much for the entire lesson and then the lesson ended, he watched the potions get judged, his partner apparently did a very good job and then the class started to empty. Chris remain seated however, keeping his eyes firmly placed upon professor Snape. As soon as they were the only people left in the room did he finally stand up and walk over to her desk.
"Hey, you're free to talk now right?" he asked, wanting to talk to her but not wanting to hold her up from another class or meeting or something. "It's just, i need potions help.. plus i like hanging out with beautiful women.. so win win." he told her with a wink, inappropriate really for a student to be saying to a teacher but Chris wasn't being serious, he'd never try anything on with a teacher, he'd think about it but never do it, he just liked to tease himself and have some fun, plus he actually really needed the potions help.

Lily had not been oblivious to Chris' lack of work in the lesson. She hadn't said anything during the lesson because she had been somewhat distracted by another student's complete confusion about the difference between a regerminating potion and a regeneration potion. Quite worrying. Even so, she had noticed.
She had planned to make Chris stay after the lesson but watching him as the other students packed away and cleared out she realised he was planning to stay anyway. She liked Chris and enjoyed the banter between them. It seemed like only yesterday she had been a student herself so sometimes she had to remind herself to keep the lines and boundaries clear. If she really thought he had the hots for her she'd put a stop to it. Wouldn't she?
She was shuffling papers and watching him out of her peripheral vision when he asked if she was free now. "For you Chris," she replied casually before looking up, "Of course."
When he started flirting with her, she struggled to keep the smile hidden. For the most part she managed it but when she looked up at him the sparkle of amusement was in her dark eyes.
"I would think the best way for you to improve your potions work would be to actually do the potions work," she said teasingly. An eyebrow rose in a silent question 'did you really think I hadn't noticed you sitting back?'
She continued, her tone remaining light, "But since you did ask so... flatteringly, I'm sure I could take the time to help you myself."

"I knew you always had a soft spot for me" he told her with a small smirk, he did wonder where it would get to the point where flirting would be too inappropriate between them though, he didn't think he'd get to that point because that would probably involve actually wanting something to happen whilst Chris was just doing it because he could.
He could tell she enjoyed the flirting, if it wasnt her mouth giving it away in a hidden smile it was her eyes, she had young eyes so full of life and even though they were dark, they were still gleaming. "Ah.. yeah.. well it's hard to do my potions work with a partner who wants to do it all themselves, plus i'm not so good at working out the measurements and let's face it, if i did do the work, i wouldn't be here now and you'd be bored out of your mind" he said trying to stear the conversation away from him being lazy as much as he can without it being obvious.
"You will? Great!" Chris said with an entusiatic smile, he wasnt sure if she actually would but she was going to so that meant he had something to do instead of just walking around bored. "I can promise a lot more flattery where that came from.. for example, you have beautiful eyes"

Lily scoffed at his comment about being bored. Kids never understood the amount of work that went into being a teacher. "It's nice to know you care, but I'm much too busy to be bored," she replied.
The compliment about her eyes was unexpected but she fired back a retort without missing a beat. "All the better to watch you with," she teased, "So you better keep yourself out of trouble."
Returning to business, she asked, "How does an hour after dinner suit you? We can have our first lesson tomorrow evening if you like."
